Raising funds to offset the cost of running the Mariner Swim Team is a byproduct of any program such as ours. We try our best to keep the training fees in line with other comparable programs in the area but training fees do not cover all our expenses. It is also our intention to keep to a minimum the requests to knock on doors selling items or asking for donations. Below are some of the fundraising events that we have planned so far for the upcoming year.
COOKIE DOUGH SALES
The first fundraiser of the year is the cookie dough sales. Packets can be picked up in the pool office and are due back no later than Friday Oct. 10. Make all checks out to HMST and submit them with your order. The products will arrive on or before Nov. 15.
BREAKOUT SWIM CLINIC
The Breakout Swim Clinic will bring two Olympic gold medalists to Hopkins to run a 4 hour clinic for swimmers of all ages. We can handle as many as 100 swimmers in this clinic. We would like our own team members to sign up and participate before swimmers from other teams fill up the available spots.
HOSTING USA SWIM MEETS
Hosting swim meets can be a significant fundraiser for the team. In order for these meets to be successful, both for the participants as well as for the team financially, we need the assistance of all team families. Our first such hosted meet is scheduled for Sunday, November 9. The meet is for all swimmers regardless of age. Whether you have a young swimmer or not we need your help. The team policy for parents assisting in the fundraising operations is as follows:
1. As stated in the “Parent Code of Conduct” 2.a. Work on the organization and execution of meets, on team operations and on fund raisers with other team parents.
2. Over the course of the winter months, the Mariner team will be hosting 5 meets with a total of 12 individual sessions. Each family is expected to work 6 sessions to fulfill their obligation.
3. If your schedule is such that you can not fulfill your obligation to the team and the “Parent Code of Conduct”, your family will be assessed $300 which must be paid prior to the first USS meet. (Parent Code of Conduct” 2.b.I.
Should you have any questions on this policy you can talk to either Chuck or Lisa Earley.
